The points given in the table lie on a line.fund the slope of each line

Asked by sanchezjennifer

Answer (2)

for the first table consider A(x1,y1)=A(0;3) and B(x2;y2)=B(1;5)
the slope m= (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) = (5-3)/(1-0) = 2/1=2
for the second table consider again A(x1;y1)=A( 0;9) and B(x2;y2)=B(2;4)
the slope m= (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)= (4-9)/(2-0)= -5/2= -2.5

To find the slope of a line given two points, you can use the formula m = x 2 − x 1 y 2 − y 1 . For points A(0, 3) and B(1, 5), the slope is 2, while for points C(0, 9) and D(2, 4), it is -2.5. The sign of the slope indicates whether the line rises or falls from left to right.
