Describe how a sarcodine, such as an amoeba, gets food.

Well, the food is in the environment. I would like to compare it with how bacteriae feed (however my biology is quite rusty), that is, they engulf their food and they "digest" -- not the proper term, since there are no organs to do real digestion -- it.

Amoebas obtain food through the process of phagocytosis, where they extend pseudopodia to engulf food particles, forming a food vacuole. The vacuole then fuses with a lysosome to digest the food, allowing the amoeba to absorb nutrients. Any waste is expelled from the cell through exocytosis.
