Bree travels from her house to the library at 6 miles per hour. On her way home, she travels at 12 miles per hour. The total travel time is 2 hours. Which equation can be used to find the distance in miles from Bree's house to the library?

| | Distance (mi) | Rate (mph) | Time (hr) |
| :---------------- | :------------ | :--------- | :-------- |
| Trip to Library | $x$ | 6 mph | $\frac{x}{6}$ |
| Trip to Home | $x$ | 12 mph | $\frac{x}{12}$ |

A. $\frac{x}{6}+\frac{x}{12}=2$
B. $(\frac{x}{6})(\frac{x}{12})=2$
C. $6+12=x$
D. $(6)(12)=x$

The ratios are, thus, equivalent.

If two ratios have the same value when simplified , theyre called 'equivalent ratios'
Eg: when we simplify 4/6 and 8/12 , we get 2/3 in both cases. ;

When two ratios simplify to the same value, they are called equivalent ratios. For example, 1:2 and 2:4 are equivalent because they represent the same relationship when simplified. Equivalent ratios can be checked using cross-multiplication.
