Start by listing this until you see that X+Y = 50 X can equal: 4,8,12,16,20,24,28,32,36,40, 44 Y can equal: 1.5,3,4.5, 6 ,7.5,9 So... X=11 Y=4 so... 4 sandwiches were bought, and 11 drinks.

To graph the equation 1.5 y + 4 x = 50 , calculate the intercepts and substitute values for either variable to find points. Plot these points on a graph, and the line formed will represent the budget constraint for sandwiches and drinks. Each point on this line shows a combination of how many sandwiches and drinks you can buy for $50.
