What effect does adding more loops to the wire coil have on the electromagnet?

Asked by HansPlana

Answer (2)

The strength of the electromagnet depends on the magnitude of the current in the wire and the number of turns of wire around the core. If you add more turns to the coil and keep the magnitude of the current constant , the electromagnet becomes stronger.

Adding more loops to an electromagnet coil increases its strength because each loop contributes to the total magnetic field. Keeping the current constant, the strength of the magnetic field can be enhanced significantly. Additionally, using a ferromagnetic core further intensifies the magnetic field generated by the coil.
