Haiti’s forests have been cut down by more than 95%. Some people consider that the deforestation has reached an alarming level of 99%. Due to this there is only 39% land that can be cultivated. In this country more than 70% people live below poverty level. This huge destruction of forests has resulted in climatic changes as well. The people of Haiti wanted to end poverty by going for industrialization by destroying forests. This was a bad move on the part of the people of Haiti.

Haiti has lost over 99% of its forests due to reliance on wood for fuel and cooking. This deforestation has resulted in serious environmental issues, contributing to poverty and limiting agricultural land availability. The ongoing loss of forests exacerbates the cycle of poverty in the country.
