The sum of a negative number, \(\frac{1}{4}\) of the negative number, and \(\frac{7}{16}\) of the negative number is \(-13 \frac{1}{2}\). What is the negative number?

How do you solve that, and what is the answer?

k so ur gonna hav x + 1/4x + 7/16x =-13 1/2. Start with that then you need to add the lil terms together. Thats x, 4/16 x (so it can be added easier) and 7/16 x added together. So you get 1 11/16x = -13 1/2. Use a calculator for that and you get x = -19.63636364

Answer:
-8
Step-by-step explanation:
According to question,
(-x) + (-x)(1/4) + (-x)(7/16) = -13 1/2
-x - x/4 -7x/16 = -27/2
Now, make all denominators equal:
(-16x -4x - 7x)/16 = -27/2
Now, multiply both sides with 16 to get rid of denominator:
-16x - 4x - 7x = -216
-27x = -216
-x = -216/27
= -8
Sorry for delay

The negative number is − 8 . This was found by setting up an equation where the sum of the negative number and its fractions equals − 13.5 and solving for x .
