Why can you only change one variable in an experiment?

It is important to test only one variable when conducting an experiment because that one variable will only have one change. You want to know whether or not that one change is what caused the outcome of the experiment. If you use too many you don't know what really caused the outcome.

In experiments, only one variable should be changed at a time to ensure clarity in results and control over other factors. This allows scientists to accurately determine the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable, enhancing the validity of the conclusions. Keeping other conditions constant also facilitates replication of the experiment by other researchers.
