How do you graph and solve the equation \(x + 4y = 16\)?

Asked by cassidygensert

Answer (3)

You have to give values to x or y to create points which can be represented on a system of axis. For example, for x=0 we would get 4y=16, so y=4 => A(0, 4). For y = 0 we would get x=16, so B(16, 0). I attached the graph

To graph the equation x + 4 y = 16 , rearrange it to the slope-intercept form and identify points where the line crosses the axes. Plot these points and draw the line, which represents all possible solutions to the equation. You can find specific solutions by substituting values for x or y .
