The Coercive Acts, enacted in 1774, severely impacted trade in Boston by closing the port and restricting local governance. This blockade paralyzed commerce, driving local prices up and prompting boycotts of British goods. As a result, trade diminished significantly, contributing to the overall unrest that fueled the American Revolution.
