Will the Andes mountains on the west coast of South America become taller or shorter in the future? Use the theory of plate tectonics to explain your answer.

Andes will probably get taller as they always did. It's because they lie mainly on South American Plate (as well as partly on Nazca and Antarctic Plates) and they're being forced to outcrop by the subduction of oceanic crust under those plates.

The Andes mountains are expected to become taller in the future due to the ongoing subduction of the Nazca Plate beneath the South American Plate. This geological process causes continual uplift of the mountains, despite the effects of erosion. As long as the current tectonic activity persists, the Andes will likely continue to grow in height.
