State the slope and the y-intercept for the graph of the equation:

\[ y = 4x + 1 \]

since it is in slpe-intercept form (y=mx+b) we can find the slope easily so slope=m in y=mx+b slope=4/1=rise/run
y-intercept is when the line passes through the y-line or when x=0 so set x to 0 and get y=4(0)+1 y=0+1 y=1 y-intercept=1

The slope of the equation y = 4 x + 1 is 4 , and the y-intercept is 1 . This means that for every increase of 1 in x , y increases by 4, and the graph crosses the y-axis at the point (0, 1).
