A dressmaker has [tex]\frac{3}{8}[/tex] yard of fabric. She needs a total of [tex]\frac{3}{4}[/tex] yard for a skirt. How much more fabric does she need?

3/4 yards is also 6/8 6/8 - 3/8 = 3/8 yards Therefore, she still needs 3/8 yards of fabric

The dressmaker needs 8 3 ​ more yards of fabric. She currently has 8 3 ​ yard and needs 4 3 ​ yard for the skirt. After subtracting the fabric she has from what she needs, we find the difference is 8 3 ​ .
