The quotient of 2 times a number \( k \) and -2.6 is 12.

Asked by Lanebane

Answer (2)

so quotient means divide so 2k/-2.6=12
we know that if we divide a negative by a negative, we will get a positive, and if the signs are diffarent, then the answer will be negative so k must be negative
so 2k/-2.6=12 multiply both sides by -2.6 to get rid of the -2.6 denominator
2k=-31.2 divide both sides by 2 k=-15.6

To find the value of k , we set up the equation − 2.6 2 k  = 12 , multiply both sides by -2.6 to obtain 2 k = − 31.2 , and then divide by 2. Consequently, k equals -15.6. Thus, k = − 15.6 .
