What is the easiest way to divide fractions?

Answer (3)

so to divide fractons you first convert them to x/y form then you invert the secon fraction and multiply them so (1/5)/(3/5)=(1/5)(5/3)
THE REASON FOR THIS IS
to cancel out the bottom number, you must multiply it by its ricprocol (or its flip so the recpriocol of 3/5 would be 5/3) so 3/5 times 5/3=1 so then the equation would look like [(1/5)(5/3)]/[(3/5)(5/3)] the bottom part (denomenator) would be equal to one (15/15) then you are left with [(1/5)(5/3)]/1 or (1/5)(5/3) or 5/15=1/3

when dividing fractions you flip the second fraction and then just multiply the two together.
e.g. (3/4) / (1/2) = 3/4 x 2/1 = 6/4 = 3/2
hope this helps :)

To divide fractions, multiply the first fraction by the reciprocal of the second. First, rewrite the division as multiplication by flipping the second fraction. Then, multiply the numerators and the denominators, and simplify if necessary.
