A train that is 1 mile long starts through a tunnel that is also 1 mile long. The train is traveling at 15 miles per hour. How long does it take for the train to get completely out of the tunnel?

12 minutes because it is three miles into for the train to go completely in and out (one mile for the nose to enter, on mile for the nose to exit and tail enter, and one mile for tail to exit). 3/15=x/60

The train takes 8 minutes to completely exit the tunnel. This includes the time it takes for both the length of the train and the tunnel to clear. The calculation is based on the speed of the train and the total distance to travel of 2 miles.
