How does fermentation differ from respiration?

From what I can remember, Fermentation does not require oxygen in order to occur. Respiration does require oxygen however. Fermentation is Anaerobic, and Respiration is Aerobic.

Fermentation is an anaerobic process that produces 2 ATP and results in substances like ethanol or lactic acid, while respiration (aerobic) requires oxygen and can yield about 36-38 ATP, producing carbon dioxide and water. Fermentation does not involve the citric acid cycle or electron transport chain, unlike respiration. These differences highlight the energy production strategies of living organisms under different conditions.
