A stack of boards is 21 inches high. Each board is \( \frac{3}{2} \) inches thick. How many boards are there?

Answer (2)

If the stack is 21ins and each board is 1 3/2 ins thick that means you 21/(1 3/2) so you end up getting 8.4. Because you can't have a part of a board you round the number down to 8 boards.

There are 14 boards in a stack that is 21 inches high, with each board being 2 3 inches thick. We calculated this by dividing the total height by the thickness of a single board. Thus, 2 3 21 = 14 .
