Write the following in \( y = mx + b \) form:

1. \(\frac{1}{2}x - y = 4\)
2. \(2y = x + 6\)

Answer (2)

Lets do this. 2 1  ∗ x − y = 4 /- 2 1  x -y= − 2 1  x + 4 /*(-1) y= 2 1  x − 4 - its the result
2y=x+6 /:2 (divide both sides by2 ) y= 2 1  x + 3 - its the result

The first equation 2 1  x − y = 4 can be rewritten as y = 2 1  x − 4 . The second equation 2 y = x + 6 can be rewritten as y = 2 1  x + 3 . Both are now expressed in the slope-intercept form y = m x + b .
