How can I rewrite the following equations in the form of [tex]y = mx + b[/tex]?

1. [tex]Y + 3x = 1[/tex]

2. [tex]Y - 6 = 2x[/tex]

you have to make them both y equals. y+3x=1 -3x -3x Subtract 3x to both sides to get y on one side, alone. y=-3x+1 Now its in y=mx+b form!
y=mx+b
y-6=2x +6 +6 Add 6 to both sides to get y alone y=2x+6 Now its in y=mx+b form!
y=mx+b

y + 3 x = 1 y = − 3 x + 1 y − 6 = 2 x y = 2 x + 6

To rewrite the equations in the form of y = m x + b , isolate y by moving other terms to the opposite side. The first equation becomes Y = − 3 x + 1 and the second becomes Y = 2 x + 6 . Both are now in the required format.
