An adult ticket to a museum costs $3 more than a child's ticket. When 200 adult tickets and 100 children's tickets are sold, the total revenue is $2,100.

What is the cost of a child's ticket? Please explain.

x=child's ticket price 200 ( x + 3 ) + 100 x = 2100 200 x + 600 + 100 x = 2100 300 x + 600 = 2100 300 x = 1500 x = 5
So adult's ticket price would be: x + 3 5 + 3 = 8

The cost of a child's ticket is $5. An adult ticket, therefore, costs $8. The total revenue from selling these tickets matches the given amount of $2,100.
