You can use this formula to work out total pay, £T, each week:

\[ T = RH \]

Where £R is the pay for one hour's work, and H is the number of hours worked.

Find T when:

a. R = £10 and H = 35
b. R = £12 and H = 40

so you subtitute into the equation so T=RH if R=10 and H=35 so 10 per hour so 10 times 35 or (R times H) so 350=T
b. if is R=12 and H=40 subsitute and get 12 times 40 (RH) which is 480=T

For an hourly rate of £10 and 35 hours worked, the total pay is £350. For an hourly rate of £12 and 40 hours worked, the total pay is £480.
