Presented by Alfred Wegener, the theory of a land bridge between S. America and Africa was apparently based on dinosaur fossils discovered, Wegener stated that the continents wander slowly in water. However, scientists have now rejected this theory as they have proved that continents are static and do not wander.

The theory of a land bridge between South America and Africa is not supported today due to geological evidence showing the improbability of its existence. Modern plate tectonics explains the movement of continents and accounts for the similar fossil distributions without the need for land bridges. Fossils of species that could not traverse oceans further confirm that the continents have been separated for millions of years.
