The Romans formed Greco-Roman culture by adopting and adapting significant elements of Greek art, literature, religion, and language. This cultural exchange began with earlier Etruscan trade and continued as Rome expanded and ultimately conquered Greece. The combination of these influences profoundly shaped Western civilization.
