Why do alkanes not appear in the periodic table?

Asked by annafortuna1603

Answer (2)

Alkanes, being saturated hydrocarbon compounds do not appear in the periodic table because periodic table consists only of elements arranged in periods and rows according to their atomic number, electronic configuration and valency.

Alkanes are not found in the periodic table because they are compounds made up of carbon and hydrogen atoms, not individual elements. The periodic table lists only the elemental building blocks, while alkanes follow specific formulas based on their structural properties. Alkanes are characterized by having only single bonds and a specific ratio of hydrogen to carbon atoms.
