When the organ is not very important, survival is possible. Also, with some organs down (like one of the lungs, one of the kidneys), survival is difficult.

An organism's ability to survive without one of its organs depends on whether the organ is vital. For instance, humans cannot survive without key organs such as the heart or brain, while non-vital organs like the gallbladder can be removed without immediate life threats. Furthermore, some single-celled organisms adapt more easily since they do not have specialized organs.
